tabitha ~rose~ cervantes
tabitha rose (she/they) is a queer, Latine, and multidisciplinary artist living in St. Petersburg, Florida. rose believes creativity is a human right for healing, world-building, and everyday play.
Their background includes creative writing/poetry, mass communication research, art therapy study, and a trauma-informed teaching artist certification. Her roles range from teacher to writing faciliator to teen poetry mentor to community builder. rose channels the magic of poetry in public spaces and has performed poetry at communal gatherings including an interfaith vigil for immigrants detained in the Everglades and an annual memorial service for houseless individuals. Her work has been featured in artist panels, local poetry shows, and broadcasted live on LatinX WMNF. She is a poetry contributor for Neptune magazine, and has poems featured in The Artisan.
They pour their heart and time into communities like Collect Ur Thoughts, Mi Gente Mi Pueblo, and NOMADstudio. Her collage of self includes being a dreamer, bruja, tia, and life-partner. She loves deeply, vulnerably, and openly to fight against hateful and harmful systems. rose is committed to paving the way toward a world where everyone is celebrated for who they are.
